What is the typical age of a Fellow?  
The typical age range of participants is 22-32. Applicants outside the range are welcome to apply. PJA staff is available to discuss your eligibility and whether the Jeremiah Fellowship is the right program for you  

What are you looking for in a candidate?  
We are looking for creative, dynamic and engaged young Jews to become Fellows.  The Fellowship is committed to the diversity of each cohort, and we believe that a breadth of experience adds to the richness of the program. We encourage people of ALL backgrounds to apply. 

How much does the program cost?  
Thanks to the generosity of individuals and foundations, we are able to offer the program free of charge.  However, we take each Fellow’s commitment to the program seriously. 

Do I get paid to be a fellow?  
No. However the entire tuition of the program is provided free of charge to the participants.

What is the commitment?  
The Fellowship is a 9 month program that runs from September through June.  Excellent attendance is required. Fellows come together for two weeknight evenings every month (usually on a Tuesday or Wednesday), participate in three experiences in the field (usually on Sundays), and two weekend-long retreats. The program culminates with a self-directed and community-based action project.

How “Jewish” do you have to be to become a Jeremiah Fellow?  
The Jeremiah Fellowship embraces Jewish pluralism as a core value of our community. Jews from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply. 

How much social justice or community organizing experience do I need
Candidates from all levels of experience are welcome to apply. We look at each candidate holistically. More important than any single experience is the will to be a change maker. The Jeremiah Fellowship is rooted in the worlds of Jeremiah, “And seek the well being of the city in which you live…for in its peace you shall find peace.”
